Onstage Birth: here’s hoping.
Okay, okay, so Canada’s political scene might be in crisis right now, but that’s nothing, NOTHING, I tell you, compared to the nuttiness that’s been going on in this family of late.
Moving, unpacking, fighting the conflicting urges to hug and kill everybody at the same time thanks to ever-burgeoning pregnancy hormones…oh yeah, and we got a dog.
NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yes, apologies for the massive space between entries. It does feel so good to be missed – I never thought I would have the opportunity in this lifetime to empathise with a semicolon, which I myself miss (or is that, mis-use?) on regular occasion, but there you have it. Life is an unpredictable wonder.
Forgive also the random ramblings of incoherence. Again, I plead pregnancy. On which note, I’m hoping to keep on rocking out onstage with Loose Moose for all of January and perhaps even beyond. The point is I want to keep on going til the baby pops his/her head, arms, feet and other hopefully-present appendages. Better still, I hope it happens onstage – it would be such a fabulous moment for my memoirs, not to mention brilliant publicity for the theatre. Oh yes, improvised birth…ain’t nothin’ like it.
So for now, adieu and pass the gas.
Loose Moose Shenanigans this weekend!
You know, it’s funny. We’re mid moving house right now, I’m up to my ears in boxes and cleaning products and yet, the thought of performing both tonight and tomorrow night at the Moose – far from being exhausting – is the only thing keeping me hangin’ in there!
I’m so excited, our team has a secret theme tonight – I tried my costume on last week and could not stop laughing just wearing it. I’ll try to post some pics after the event. It’s the Grand Final tonight, our team made it in by a nose – whatever happens I’m sure that my personal state at having sniffed way too much Ajax will go a long way to contributing to a delirious night of improv.
Oh yeah, so if you are in Calgary, here’s the deets:

A few pics for your viewing pleasure/nausea/whatever from the Loose Moose kids show. My kids are already in full frantic fan mode, obsessively reciting lines of dialogue, songs and rubbing in my face that their favourite character is not moi.
Ah me, the trials and tribulations of showbiz.
The Three Pigs
So finally I can relate to the throes of Hollywood celebs who seize the chance to lend their voiceover talents to the latest Pixar flick, in order that their bizarrely-named offspring might have a chance to enjoy the fruits of Mummy and Daddy’s more age-appropriate work.
In other words: I’m in my first kids’ show baby! My little tikes are over the moon about it, I’ve been practising accents on them and fielding all sorts of questions starting with the all important: ‘Which house are you going to build, Mama?’ Followed very quickly by ‘Now open your mouth so I can pull out the baby.’
Anyway, the point is if you’re in Calgary, have kids or just want to pick up hot single mums, then come on down to the show. It’s gonna be a hoot. Or an oink. Or something barn-yardy.
WHEN: November 1 to 23rd 2008
Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm
WHERE: Loose Moose Theatre, SE Calgary
TIX: $10

Theatresports Tournament at the Moose: THIS FRIDAY!
If you’re in Calgary, come on down! If you’re not, well gees man, way to bring a girl down…
This Friday my team The Candidates (featuring Andrew Phung, Michael Roik and my dear self + bun-in-oven) shall be competing against the illustrious talents of another team who is so incredibly talented that their shininess has burnt a hole in the part of my brain designated for name recall.
It shall be awesome!
It shall be ruthless!
It shall be Friday at 8pm!
Check out the Moose website for more details.
Oh, and it shall also be followed by the very excellent talents of Rob Mitchelson & AJ Demers in ‘Friday Night Late’. Now if that’s not a kicking buttocks style of starting off your weekend, then shove some antlers on me and re-christen me “Elke.”
Jen. xx
